Germany's Krohne Group launches new project in Songjiang
Germany's Krohne Group announced the construction of a new factory at Songjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Shanghai, which will be affiliated with its wholly owned subsidiary in the city. The factory will focus on the research, development, and production of electromagnetic flow meters.
Spanning an area of about 4.27 hectares, it is set to provide high-tech products and measurement solutions for key industries in China, as well as support related enterprises in Asia.
Established in 2001, the subsidiary's products have been widely adopted in various fields including food, medicine, mining, and water treatment. A number of domestic and international entities such as the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport have used its products.
Chen Jianlong, in charge of the project, said that the company is optimistic about the long-term economic development of China and Shanghai, as well as Songjiang district's business environment. The company plans to expand its investment in the area and build it into the group's electromagnetic flowmeters production center in Asia.
Chen praised the efficiency of the district government, as the construction permission for the new project was issued in a mere two months — far exceeding the company's expectations. The whole process has been streamlined, with no service charges, and everything was handled by the economic and development zone, with support from various government bureaus.
Songjiang, a suburban district in western Shanghai, has been attracting foreign enterprises due to its strategic location, thriving business environment, and strong policy support. Statistics show that the district outperformed its peers in terms of foreign trade and foreign-invested businesses in 2024.
This year, the district has launched an upgraded plan to improve its business environment which encompasses 135 measures aimed at breaking down barriers to market access and fostering a more efficient, convenient, and transparent business environment for foreign enterprises.
