Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine
Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) is one of the key institutions included in China's Project 985 and Project 211, and one of leading medical schools in the country.
In 2005, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Second Medical University merged to form SJTUSM, which was jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. SJTUSM became one of the first 10 universities to be jointly built by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education in November 2010.
The university has cultivated over 70,000 medical professionals and has made significant contributions to the medical and health fields. It has evolved into a research-oriented and innovative university with a strong international reputation, strong faculty, outstanding educational outcomes, and comprehensive medical, teaching, research, and social services development.

SJTUSM now has two campuses, one in Shanghai's Huangpu district and the other in Shanghai's Minhang district. It is currently building a new campus in Pudong New Area.
SJTUSM has 25 secondary schools (departments), 13 affiliated hospitals, and six post-doctoral workstations. It offers 10 undergraduate programs in clinical medicine, stomatology, basic medicine, biology and more.
The school has 42,751 faculty and medical staff members, including 955 full-time teachers, 5,338 teachers with senior titles, 1,153 doctoral degree supervisors, and 1,347 master's degree supervisors. SJTUSM has won 14 national-level teaching achievement awards.
The school has 11,117 students, including 3,790 undergraduate students, 7,181 graduate students and 146 international students.
The school library has a total collection of nearly 1 million publications, including more than 500,000 electronic books. There are also 90 electronic academic databases covering clinical medicine, basic medicine, pharmacy, nursing, public health, evidence-based medicine and other biomedical fields. Primal Pictures, Access Medicine, and other medical teaching resources are accessible at the library.
SJTUSM is devoted to improving its scientific and technological innovation capacity and actively participates in the reform of the national medical and health system. The affiliated hospitals at the school serve one-third of the surgical operations and one-half of the patients suffering from rare and difficult diseases in the city. It has made important contributions to the medical and health field in Shanghai, and the country as a whole.
SJTUSM has also deepened international cooperation and emphasised foreign exchanges. It has established extensive cooperation with 71 universities and research institutions in 21 countries and regions.
