Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance is a full-time general higher education institution offering distinctive accounting and finance programmes.

It was formed in June 2016 by a merging of Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce and Shanghai Finance University. After more than 90 years of research, the university has earned a reputation as a birthplace of modern accounting education in China and the cradle of future financiers.

The university offers 39 undergraduate programmes distributed among 15 schools. It promotes interdisciplinary integration and collaboration and coordinates the development of multiple subjects in the disciplines of economics, management, science, law and arts.

Its business administration is listed as a Class I Plateau Discipline among Shanghai universities, and applied economics is listed as a Class II Plateau Discipline. The Journal of Accounting and Economics, published and publicly distributed by the university, has qualified as a CSSCI source journal.

The university currently has three campuses in Pudong, Songjiang and Xuhui districts in Shanghai. Its new campus in Gutang Road is currently under construction.

It has more than 1,630 faculty members, nearly 1,240 of whom are full-time teachers. It has over 700 teachers with doctoral degrees.

It has more than 18,000 full-time students. Boasting a high employment rate, the university was selected as a "National Model University for Graduate Employability" by the Ministry of Education.

The university insists on deepening international exchanges and cooperation and has established cooperative relationships with more than 100 universities and research institutes outside the Chinese mainland.

It also cooperated with the International Business Academy in Denmark to establish a Confucius Institute there, partnered with the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the United Sates to develop a Sino-foreign joint undergraduate programme in financial engineering (specialising in fintech), and cooperated with European universities in the Erasmus Programme (the European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students).
