Sanda University is a full-time private university devoted to a multi-disciplinary, international, and high-quality education for applied technology and the training high-quality talents for economic and social development.

It was founded by professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University in 1992.

In March 2002, it was approved as a full-time undergraduate college by the Ministry of Education, becoming the first private undergraduate college in Shanghai.

The university covers an area of about 53.87 hectares in total and consists of two campuses located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai and Jiashan county, Zhejiang province. 

It has over 16,000 full-time students, including 15,000 undergraduates, and over 960 full-time teachers, 35 percent of whom hold doctoral degrees.

The university has eight core disciplines: economics, law, literature, engineering, management, art, medicine, and education, with 44 undergraduate majors.

More than 68,000 people have graduated from the university, and over the past five years, the average employment rate among all graduates was 96 percent.

The university has undertaken a number of major projects in an effort to develop a national off-campus practical education centre for college students and an experimental centre for innovation and entrepreneurship education.

The university has recruited foreign teachers and teachers with international backgrounds to strengthen its teaching team and has established cooperative relations with 124 institutions in 28 countries and regions to develop talent training programmes.
