Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) is a municipal public university founded in 1960. It is known for its strengths in engineering and well-coordinated development of disciplines in management, economics, literature, science, and arts.

SSPU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs. Over the years, the university has produced close to 200,000 technical and applied talents for Shanghai and the nation. It has also cultivated over 130 model workers at national, provincial, and ministerial levels, earning it the title of "the cradle of model workers".

The university consists of 14 colleges and schools that have over 15,000 full-time students and approximately 1,200 faculties . 

Located in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, SSPU's Jinhai Road Campus offers geographical advantages for both study and enterprise-university cooperation. It is situated near the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and several Fortune Global 500 companies.

SSPU focuses on applied research and development and collaborates with high-level research institutes to build joint laboratories. It also promotes the application of its research results through technology transfer workstations.
