Spring flowers bloom in Shanghai

As spring approaches, parks and green spaces across Shanghai are witnessing colorful and bright flower blossoms and fresh green sprouts, ushering in the vibrant season.

Various flower varieties, including peonies, plum blossoms, camellias, wintersweet blossoms, and Rhododendron lapponicum (Lapland Rosebay), are in full bloom in the city's green spaces such as Chenshan Botanical Garden and Zuibaichi Park in Songjiang district, Century Park in Pudong New Area, Shanghai Botanical Garden in Xuhui district, Xinzhuang Park in Minhang district, and Guyi Garden in Jiading district.

Situated within Sheshan National Tourist Resort, the Chenshan Botanical Garden is hosting a flower exhibition featuring peonies and Rhododendron lapponicum. Consisting of four sections, the exhibition showcases dozens of peonies and Lapland Rosebay varieties, decorated with other diverse flowers such as plum blossoms and orchids. Additionally, products derived from peonies are on display to promote peony culture, including cosmetics, tea, and supplement products.

The Shanghai Expo Culture Park embraces spring with a vibrant display of flowers. Within its greenhouse gardens, various varieties of butterfly orchids, among others, are in full bloom. Beyond the greenhouses, the park features a New Year flower market, where visitors can purchase and admire traditional Chinese New Year flowers, as well as rare species from around the globe.

As an iconic flower of the season, the wintersweet is ready to spread its fragrance at Century Park located in Pudong New Area. Open 24 hours a day, this large free park in the city is home to over 500 wintersweet trees and over 4,000 plum blossom trees, offering the best plum blossom views until March.
