It's that time of year again when the first traces of spring arrive on the scent of plum blossoms. For those looking to catch the season at its most delicate and luminous, here are several favorite spots in Chongming district, each offering its own distinctive charm.
Changxing Island Country Park
The park's plum garden sits on a small island encircled by water and is home to more than 1,000 trees of different varieties. Blossoms in shades of red, yellow, and green are now in full display, weaving a vivid tapestry of color. It's the kind of place where every snapshot feels like spring.

Dongping National Forest Park
The park's landscape has been carefully designed with potted plum displays, pavilions, and rock formations, each turn revealing a new view. The blossoms are at their best now, with gentle fragrance drifting through the air.

Red plums can be found south of Chenhu Lake, near the southwest corner of the main lawn, and atop the small hill. Yellow plums are in bloom west of Canghai Pavilion, in the herb garden, and in front of the north gate. Together, red, yellow, pink, and white blossoms create the signature palette of the season.

A note on timing: Plum blossoms typically last for two to three months. This year, the peak viewing period in Chongming runs from mid-February through the end of March. Don't wait too long — spring is calling.
