Shanghai's Putuo welcomes spring with blossoming festivals and cultural events
Shanghai's Putuo district is abuzz with vibrant festivals and cultural activities to welcome springtime.
As one of the organizers of the 2026 Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival, Putuo is set to host events on March 21 and 22 in UBOX Taomanli Creative Arts Community and Taopu Park. Among them, cyclists can enjoy a 3.5-km city tour connecting Liziyuan Park, TOP Central Park and Taopu Park, with creative gifts available at peach blossom checkpoints. The "Taopu spring market" offers hands-on experiences in Shanghai-style peach blossom paper-cutting, intangible cultural heritage peach blossom sachets and pressed flower bookmarks.
UBOX Taomanli Creative Arts Community, Shanghai's first "blind box" themed art settlement, will host the ecological installation art exhibition and a community photography exhibition by a French photographer, blending high-quality exhibitions with the festival's spring theme to showcase Taopu's international and diverse cultural landscape.
The fourth edition of cherry blossom festival will take place from March 27 to April 19. It features a 900-meter waterfront cherry blossom corridor with a waterfront backdrop, combining cherry blossom-themed boat tours, immersive markets and diverse cultural activities.
Simultaneously, Putuo's spring symphony has begun at TOP Central Park. From March 14, musical performances will take the stage every Saturday amid a 14,000-square-meter tulip sea, turning the natural amphitheater into a spring-exclusive "outdoor KTV". The event, running throughout 2026, features four seasonal themes and seven performances by the end of April. Summer, autumn and winter will feature reading, intangible cultural heritage and performing arts in diverse formats.
