A team of professional anglers from CARP TNT, a Chinese company dedicated to promoting European-style carp fishing, embarked on a 10-day fishing expedition at Xisha Mingzhu Lake in Shanghai's Chongming district on Sept 13.

On the first day, the team caught a giant black carp weighing more than 60 kilograms. Adult wild black carp typically weigh 5 to 15 kg, while specimens over 25 kg are rare.

During the trip, the team caught four black carp each weighing more than 40 kg, along with countless smaller fish.

Meanwhile, two anglers from British carp-fishing brand Korda also joined the trip and reported successful catches.

Xisha Mingzhu Lake is one of the few large natural freshwater lakes in the area. It features clear water, suitable depths, and varied underwater terrain.

Thanks to its diverse underwater terrain, the lake is rich in waterweeds, plankton, fish, and shrimp, providing habitat for dozens of freshwater fish species, including black carp, grass carp, common carp, and bream.

With minimal human interference, fish in the lake can grow naturally, allowing some to reach exceptionally large sizes.

Over the years, anglers have caught black carp weighing more than 40 kg in the lake on multiple occasions, reflecting its favorable ecological conditions.
