Shanghai's Minhang district began accepting applications on June 16 for a funding program to strengthen international scientific and technological cooperation. The application deadline is 4 pm on July 10.

The program, organized by the Minhang district science and technology committee, aims to further support the development of the Grand Neobay — a sci-tech innovation park — and the Shanghai International Science and Technology Innovation Center.

The program provides funding across four specific themes:

1. Funding for international sci-tech organizations and projects

International sci-tech organizations recognized by experts and establishing a presence in the Grand Neobay Park can apply for up to 5 million yuan ($695,970) in start-up funding. Additionally, eligible entities may receive up to 2 million yuan in annual operating subsidies for three consecutive years, covering no more than 30 percent of total operating expenses.

2. Funding for the establishment of high-level academic journals

Entities launching high-level academic journals with a physical presence in Minhang may apply for up to 5 million yuan in start-up funding and up to 2 million yuan annually in operating subsidies for three consecutive years, covering no more than 30 percent of total operating expenses.

3. Funding for the introduction of internationally influential academic journals

Entities introducing internationally recognized academic journals through co-construction, cooperation, or commissioning, and operating with a physical presence in Minhang, may apply for up to 5 million yuan in start-up funding and up to 2 million yuan annually for three consecutive years, covering up to 30 percent of total operating expenses.

4. Rewards for academic journal inclusionb

Publishers contributing to international cooperation and global academic governance are eligible for brand development support. Journals newly listed in SCI Q1/Q2 or academic associations' T1/T2 categories will receive rewards of 3 million yuan and 1.5 million yuan respectively. Each journal may receive only one reward; reapplication is not permitted.
