Smart fast-track channels using facial recognition technology were launched at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on Nov 5.
The new system allows travelers to complete border inspection procedures simply by scanning their face. Hongqiao airport is among 12 ports nationwide to introduce this new system.
The channels are available to eligible residents from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao (including non-Chinese citizens residing in the two SARs), as well as those from Taiwan who agree to have their facial and fingerprint information collected for immigration border inspection. A total of 24 such channels have been set up at the airport.
