Baoshan releases policy to boost animation, gaming, esports industries
Baoshan district has unveiled a new policy to develop its animation, gaming, and esports sectors, announced at a recent industry forum held at the 1876 New Vision industrial park in Dachang town.
The event brought together more than 60 entrepreneurs and young innovators to explore emerging trends and partnerships, with the goal of building a cluster of animation, gaming, and esports enterprises and fostering innovation across the industry chain.
The policy targets six key areas: enterprise clustering, establishing headquarters, technological innovation, overseas expansion for games, talent attraction, and financial services.
Three strategic priorities guide it:
- Industry development: Providing incentives for recognized enterprises, partnering with professional agencies for targeted investment promotion, and attracting digital cultural and creative businesses in animation, film, gaming, digital music, and ultra-high-definition video.
- Innovation support: Offering rental reductions for projects recognized by expert panels or in competitions and promoting high-quality games. Targeted support will be given to R&D and operations.
- Ecosystem building: Support for high-quality anime exhibitions, digital entertainment expos, and esports tournaments to establish signature brands, as well as providing housing and expedited public services for key talent.
The forum also marked the launch of the Baoshan district animation, gaming, and esports industry, part of the Shanghai University College of Arts industry-academia-research base.
Under a new strategic agreement with the Shanghai Baoshan Technology company, the partnership will advance curriculum development, talent cultivation, internships, and employment in the sector.
