Fudan, UNFCCC host climate change governance workshop

Fudan University and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) jointly hosted a special workshop on climate change at Fudan University on Aug 7. The workshop centered on scientific and technological support for global climate change governance, highlighting the university's contributions through research and innovation to the global climate adaptation governance system.

Daniele Violetti, senior director of Programmes Coordination at UNFCCC, attended the workshop along with experts and professors from Fudan University's Institute of Atmospheric Sciences, Institute of Global Public Policy, Institute of Belt and Road & Global Governance, and more.

Violetti discussed the progress and challenges of global climate action from the perspective of international climate governance cooperation, and commended Fudan University for its achievements in climate change education and research, as well as its significant contributions to addressing climate change.

Throughout the workshop, experts engaged in in-depth discussions and presentations on key issues in global climate change and governance, including the impacts of climate change on oceans and land, strategies for responding to extreme weather events, and comparative studies on energy transition and climate policies. Participants also explored opportunities for collaboration between the university and UNFCCC in scientific research, education, and talent development, looking forward to future cooperative endeavors.
