I. Background

China, with its deep-rooted poetic tradition, has long used poetry to inspire and motivate generations. Recitation, an essential intangible cultural heritage, plays a crucial role in helping readers worldwide appreciate and understand Chinese poetry. To promote the profound tradition of Chinese poetry recitation globally, Shanghai University has successfully hosted seven Chinese poetry recitation conferences since 2017. In 2020, the conference was recognized as a campus cultural brand of the university.

The 2024 Global Conference for Reciting Chinese Poetry now invites university students from around the world to participate and showcase their talents.

II. Themes

Recite classical Chinese poetry to showcase the nation's deep-rooted moral concepts, humanistic spirit, and cultural values, including patriotism, social virtues, and ethical norms.

2. Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

Recite poems celebrating the nation's journey and achievements, enhancing confidence in the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
