Greek family's journey to healing, learning at SHUTCM
At Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM), a woman from Greece proudly held her graduation certificate and a sachet after completing an acupuncture course, remarking, "My younger son came last year, I came this year, and my elder son will come next year."
As a member of the University of West Attica's acupuncture study group, the 55-year-old lady visited several prominent Shanghai medical institutions within a week, including Shanghai TCM-Integrated Hospital, Longhua Hospital, Shanghai General Hospital, and the Shanghai Research Institute of Acupuncture and Meridian. This was a valuable opportunity to learn acupuncture and moxibustion techniques not available in Greece.
Her husband suffers from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and has been bedridden for years. Her younger son's acupuncture studies in Shanghai led to significant improvements in his father's health, igniting her deep interest in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). A physiotherapist by profession, she decided to further her studies in Shanghai after a year of acupuncture training in Greece.
SHUTCM has a close partnership with the University of West Attica, which hosts SHUTCM's first overseas "Tai Chi Health Center". Through the "Tai Chi Health" brand, SHUTCM promotes TCM wellness concepts in Greece, Spain, and other countries, receiving widespread acclaim.
Additionally, SHUTCM collaborates with University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France to offer a TCM health prevention course. As the first TCM course integrated into the French university curriculum, the program has attracted students for three consecutive years. Such international collaborations and promotional projects underscore SHUTCM's significant role in disseminating TCM culture globally.
