Shanghai Education Fair makes waves in Tokyo, Seoul
The 2024 Shanghai Education Fair recently took place in Japan and South Korea.
Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, the event featured 25 universities, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tongji University, as well as four secondary schools, such as the Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University.
The fair aimed to promote Shanghai‘s education and the "Study in Shanghai" brand. It took place at the Machida campus of J.F. Oberlin University in Japan on Sept 17. A total of 48 Japanese institutions, including universities, high schools, and study abroad service agencies attended the "Study in Shanghai" briefing. Presentations were delivered by Fudan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and Shanghai Jian Qiao University, along with Nagasaki University, Chuo University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Waseda University. Participants engaged in discussions and Q&A sessions on topics such as new ideas and new scenarios for Sino-Japanese educational exchange and cooperation.
The Shanghai education delegation also participated in the International Education and Emigration Fair held at the COEX Convention Center in Seoul on Sept 21 and 22. As South Korea's largest and most influential international education event, this year's fair featured over 160 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. The Shanghai Education Fair booth attracted a continuous stream of visitors, with long queues forming at the booths of universities such as Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
During this trip, the Shanghai education delegation engaged in comprehensive promotions and exchanges at universities in Japan and South Korea. They held candid discussions on expanding student exchanges, establishing inter-university collaborations, and developing joint educational programs.
