China-Africa youth (digital economy) competition winners awarded at Tongji University

Tongji University hosted the award ceremony for the preliminary round of the 3rd China-Africa Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on Nov 1.

The preliminary competition at Tongji University focused on the digital economy sector and featured 19 projects in diverse fields such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, cross-border payments, and smart logistics.

Over 30 participants from 12 countries, including Algeria, the Union of the Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania, took part in the competition.

The competition awarded four first prizes, six second prizes, nine third prizes, and one best organization award.

The four first-prize teams showcased their projects after the ceremony:

1. Micro heavy-duty transport robot: Offering efficient transport solutions for 54,000 small and medium-sized steel enterprises in Africa.

2. Real-time gesture driving system: Addressing industry challenges in gesture recognition, this system significantly enhances accuracy through the integration of a range of technologies.

3. Intelligent water purification system: Proposing a viable solution to Africa's water scarcity, this project combines advanced biological treatment, membrane filtration, and automatic control technologies.

4. Intelligent investment platform for sustainable housing development in Africa: Aiming to bridge Chinese investors with Africa's construction potential through innovative investment solutions.
