Ethiopian scholar highlights Shanghai's green efforts

Anteneh Getachew, director general of Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Ethiopian Institute of Foreign Affairs, published a signed article titled China's Path to Green Modernization: Lessons in Resilience, Innovation in The Ethiopian Herald on Nov 6, garnering widespread attention.

In the article, Getachew, a participant in this year‘s Seminar on Green Development and International Cooperation for Developing Countries at Shanghai Business School, reflected on the extensive use of digital payments during his first visit to Shanghai.

He noted the convenience of a largely cashless society, highlighting China's technological progress. While embracing modernity, Shanghai also places a strong emphasis on sustainability, with numerous green and environmental projects throughout the city, which made a strong impression on him.

Throughout his visit to Shanghai, Getachew observed the significant progress China has made toward modernization. Through ongoing innovation and efforts to tackle environmental challenges, China demonstrates an approach that is worthy of sharing with the world.

The Seminar on Green Development and International Cooperation for Developing Countries was organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai Business School. Running from Oct 11 to 24, the training brought together a total of 24 officials from eight countries — Ethiopia, Jordan, Mauritius, Moldova, Mongolia, Namibia, Nigeria, and Uganda.
