02 Anti-drug

Any drug-related crime will lead to serious consequences in China. These include smuggling, selling, transporting, providing, ingesting or injecting drugs – or forcing, enticing, deceiving others to do so.

*Marijuana is listed as a forbidden drug in China.

Laws and rules

Article 73 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Administrative Penalties for Public Security: A person who instigates, lures or cheats another person into drug ingestion or injection shall be detained for 10-15 days and shall, in addition, be fined not less than 500 yuan ($68.9) but not more than 2,000 yuan.

Article 347 of the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China: Whoever smuggles, traffics in, transports or manufactures narcotic drugs, regardless of the quantity involved, shall be investigated for criminal liability and given criminal penalties.

In addition to the national laws, Shanghai universities enforce strict regulations prohibiting students from possessing, using or trafficking drugs, as well as engaging in any drug-related illegal activities. Penalties, depending on the severity of the offense, range from probation to expulsion.

03 Anti-fraud safety

Protect your privacy. Do not use your cell phone or passport number to register your information on unofficial websites.

Enhance your vigilance in financial risk prevention. Do not participate in online lending. Verify your money transfers and remittances and call the police promptly if you encounter any problems.

Strengthen your awareness of network security. Do not trust information and phone calls from strangers and prevent telecommunications network fraud.

Do not click on links from unknown sources or download unknown software.

04 Electricity safety

Strictly abide by your school's dormitory management regulations. Do not use illegal electrical appliance and open flames are prohibited.

Do not connect wires indiscriminately in the dormitory. Do not use high-power electrical appliances, poor-quality sockets, chargers or power banks.

Electric bicycles should be charged and parked in the designated area. It is forbidden to charge and park them in the building.

Do not leave the kitchen unattended while cooking.

05 Transportation safety

When riding an electric vehicle, it is necessary to wear a safety helmet and fasten the buckle. Obey the traffic rules. Do not run red lights or go against the flow of traffic. Do not drive motor vehicles (including motorcycles) after drinking alcohol, even if it is a cocktail drink with low alcohol content.

Do not look at your mobile phone when walking. Pay attention to your surroundings and observe vehicles. Be especially cautious of turning vehicles.
