The 2024 "Experience China" annual special event, hosted by the China Scholarship Council, took place at East China Normal University on Dec 12.

Nearly 1,000 students and faculty from over 300 Chinese Government Scholarship institutions, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and East China Normal University, attended the event.

Certificates were awarded to eight distinguished individuals during the proceedings. Among them, Lile Mahoney, a United States student at East China Normal University, was named the "Person of the Year" for her contributions to the dissemination and exchange of Chinese culture. Filip Filipovic, a Serbian doctoral student from Fudan University, received the title of "Ambassador of Communication".

Students from various universities shared their rich experiences and profound insights from studying in China and participating in the "Experience China" series through speeches, role-play presentations, as well as song and dance performances.

Fudan University's students presented a spectacular drum performance, showcasing the vibrant spirit of global youth and the fusion of diverse cultures of China, Malaysia, Russia, Chile, and Japan.

The performance by students from Central China Normal University, Shanghai University of Sport, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music displayed traditional Chinese culture, combining music, chess, calligraphy, painting, and martial arts.

Meanwhile, Students from Tianjin University and Tsinghua University shared their academic achievements through international collaboration in fields such as earthquake detection devices, AI glasses, and international political studies.

After the event, many students shared their reflections. Yano Aika from Japan expressed her delight, saying that wearing and dancing in traditional ethnic costumes was an unforgettable experience.

Jarocinska Paulina Natalia from Poland also shared her feelings about the performance, stating that she felt the power of unity and friendship in the combination of music and dance, which deepened her love for diverse cultures.
