Registration for 5th Stories of China Retold challenge
The Stories of China Retold in English Challenge is a major exchange event that promotes Chinese culture to young people worldwide. Since its inception in January 2020, the challenge has attracted over 1.1 million young participants from China and abroad, including nearly 10,000 international students from 135 countries and regions.
International students are invited to register for the challenge.
1. Categories and stages
The 5th challenge is divided into four categories based on participants' nationality and academic status. The categories are High School Group, University Group, International Students in China Group, and Overseas Group.
The International Students in China Group includes three selection stages: Primary, Advanced, and Sino-Foreign Youth Showcase.
The submission deadline for the primary stage of the International Students in China Group is Jan 18, 2025.
2. How to participate

Select the "Other Nationalities" option and fill in your personal information as required.

3. Submission requirements
Participants in the International Students in China Group must create their works in a non-native language (primarily Chinese), and provide a video no longer than 1.5 minutes, and submit it online. The work can be in one of the following formats:
(a) Recitation
Choose a story to recite, with reference to the suggested reading list provided by the organizing committee;
(b) Writing and reading a local story
Write and read a short local story, focusing on Chinese elements ("story subject" should not be the participant themselves, "local" should primarily refer to the location of the participant's university, "Chinese elements" include but are not limited to Chinese landscapes, customs, people, achievements, arts, and spirit);
(c) Self-introduction
Introduce yourself, incorporating Chinese elements in your presentation.
