An employment alliance consisting of Shanghai universities and manufacturing enterprises was established at the "2nd High-Quality Employer Forum for the Manufacturing Industry" in January 2025.

Led by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the alliance includes eight universities, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, and East China University of Science and Technology. The initiative aims to integrate resources and strengthen connections among education, talent development, industry, and innovation.

The alliance fosters collaboration between corporate technical experts, human resources specialists, university professors, and student counselors. It extends student training from classrooms and laboratories to enterprise production lines. By aligning curricula with workforce needs, the alliance seeks to produce graduates with practical skills.

Additionally, university-enterprise cooperation will facilitate scientific research projects and promote the commercialization of technological achievements.

Over 60 intelligent manufacturing enterprises and 110 technical and human resources experts participated in the forum.

Discussions centered on cultivating high-level engineering talent, with participants providing feedback on undergraduate curricula. Corporate representatives emphasized the need for foresight and innovation in talent cultivation. They stressed that engineering education must adapt to technological and information revolutions to better foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
