2025 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe – Storytelling Contest

This year's storytelling contest will feature online and physical stages and include preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds.

Part 1: Preliminary stage

1. Online submission period: Until April 28, 2025 (Beijing Time)

2. Eligibility

  • Open to Chinese language enthusiasts residing in China, with no age restriction.
  • Participants must be non-native Chinese speakers and non-Chinese nationals.
  • Minors must have consent from a guardian.
  • 2024 semi-finalists of the storytelling contest are ineligible.

3. Theme: Open

4. Submission requirements

  • Format: Submissions may include crosstalk, skits, TED talks, stand-up comedy, interviews, micro-documentaries, sitcoms, etc., lasting 2-5 minutes.
  • Language: Stories must be presented in Chinese, with corresponding video content.
  • Specifications: Minimum resolution of 1280x720. Accepted formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV.
  • Copyright: Videos must be original and free of any copyrighted materials, without infringing on third-party rights. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification. Content must convey positive messages and not include pornography, violence, racial discrimination, or advertisements.
  • Submission notice: By submitting, participants grant organizers the right to use their content for promotion and broadcasting. Organizers hold the rights to award-winning works, while dissemination and adaptation rights for other entries remain with the organizers.

7. In-person preliminary competitions

In-person preliminaries will be held, allowing direct advancement to the semi-finals. Details will be provided by each competition area.

Part 2: Semi-finals and finals

The semi-finals and finals will be conducted in person. Advancing participants will compete for first, second, and third prizes in the contest.

  • Location: Hangzhou, Zhejiang province
  • Time: June 2025 (tentative)

Part 3: Awards

  • Final prizes: First Prize (one winner); Second Prize (two winners); Third Prize (three winners).
  • Special awards: Outstanding Writing (two winners); Outstanding Eloquence (two winners); Outstanding Creativity (two winners); Outstanding Style (two winners).
  • Special awards will be selected from among semi-finalists.
