Shanghai upgrades facilities at two public universities
Shanghai University's Jiading Campus Expansion Project
Location: No 20 Chengzhong Road
The project will deliver all-new facilities: a building for the School of Microelectronics and the Microelectronics Research Institute, a teaching and training complex, a 35-kilovolt transformer substation, and related outdoor facilities.
The project covers a total construction area of about 76,000 square meters, including 60,000 square meters above ground and 16,000 square meters underground. Construction work began in April 2025.
As one of Shanghai's key construction projects this year, the expansion will support Shanghai University in establishing an internationally competitive school of microelectronics. The initiative aims to enhance the cultivation of high-tech talent and encourage breakthroughs in core technologies.
Shanghai University of Engineering Science Songjiang Campus Phase III Project
Location: No 333 Longteng Road, Songjiang district
The project will deliver all-new facilities: the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center, student dormitories, and a 35-kV transformer substation, complemented by outdoor facilities.
It will cover a total area of 99,822 square meters, with 87,950 square meters above ground and 11,872 square meters underground. Construction commenced in May 2025.
Upon completion, the project will further upgrade the teaching and research capabilities of the university's main Songjiang campus. It will address previous infrastructure shortages, improve overall educational functions, and strengthen the integration of industry and education. These developments will provide solid support for the university's goal of establishing a top-tier, modern, and application-oriented institution specializing in engineering science.
