Shanghai Institute of Technology to expand its Fengxian campus
The feasibility study report for the Phase IV expansion project of the Shanghai Institute of Technology Fengxian Campus has been officially approved.
The project will further enhance the university's teaching and learning environment, improve overall operational efficiency and quality across departmental and administrative functions. The project will catalyze the university's transformation into a high-level, application-oriented, and innovation-focused institute. It also supports Fengxian New City's development into an international hub for the beauty and health industry.
Project scope
The project is located at No 100 Haiquan Road, Fengxian district. It occupies a designated plot allocated for the campus expansion. The site is bounded by Fengpao Highway to the east, Haiquan Road to the south, Haiwan Road to the west, and Fengzhe Highway to the north, ensuring clear and accessible development boundaries.
Construction plan
The new construction project is set to encompass a total area of 71,192 square meters. This development will feature several key facilities designed to enhance the environment and provide comprehensive amenities. Notable among these are an innovation and practical training building, student apartments aimed at fostering a vibrant campus community, as well as a swimming pool, complemented by outdoor facilities.
The innovation and practical training building will be situated in the northeast corner of the campus, next to the landmark Library and Information Center.
It will function as a comprehensive provincial-level disciplinary platform, featuring shared research laboratories dedicated to young faculty members, innovation spaces and smart classrooms tailored for postgraduate students, and supporting facilities, creating an ideal environment for advanced learning.
Upon completion, it will serve as a vital resource for advancing research capabilities across the university. It will significantly contribute to the enhancement of postgraduate education, and it aims to cultivate high-level, application-oriented talent. This effort will bolster the university's leadership standing, reinforcing its position in establishing and maintaining first-class undergraduate and postgraduate programs recognized for excellence and innovation.
The student apartments in the northeastern residential zone will combine living, study, fitness, and social spaces. Facilities will feature student dormitories, counselors' offices, activity and multi-purpose rooms, fitness areas, laundry rooms, and equipment storage.
The swimming pool will be built near Haiwan Road on the campus's west side, close to the existing stadium and sports field. It will mainly serve physical education classes and daily exercise for students and staff.
The addition of the swimming pool will help complement the university's basic infrastructure and contribute to the cultivation of well-rounded talent.
