A four-member delegation from Shanghai Ocean University visited Huaqiao University in Fujian on Sept 8 to attend a special orientation for students enrolled in the jointly trained Chinese Government Scholarship Preparatory Program.

The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two universities, align educational approaches, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of the CSC preparatory training.

At the opening session, Huaqiao University representatives provided an overview of the university's preparatory education system, curriculum structure, faculty allocation, teaching management, and educational achievements.

During the student-faculty session, SHOU representatives engaged with five international students from Tonga and Fiji. The students shared notes and assignments from their first week of studies in China, expressed their expectations for studying in the country, and inquired about future undergraduate academic requirements. Faculty members addressed their questions in detail, encouraging the students to seize this preparatory learning opportunity and build a solid foundation for their upcoming academic journey.

The meeting also served as a platform for international students to adapt to studying and living in China. Both universities expressed their commitment to enhancing cooperation for international student education in China.

As a key base for Chinese language and preparatory training, Huaqiao University adopts a distinctive teaching model that combines comprehensive instruction, focused practice, personalized tutoring, and small-class teaching for an immersive learning environment. For six consecutive years, the college has achieved a perfect pass rate in the unified graduation examination for CSC preparatory undergraduate international students. It has provided numerous students with strong language proficiency and academic foundations, preparing them for higher education both in China and abroad.
