SJTU opens recruitment for International Ambassador Program

Shanghai Jiao Tong University has opened recruitment for its International Ambassador Program (IAP), inviting students to share their study experiences and campus life in their home countries during academic breaks.

Program overview

1. Participants may apply individually or as part of a team, with a maximum of three members per team.

2. Participants are required to contact high schools in their home countries to introduce SJTU to teachers and students, sharing official admissions information. They may design and organize outreach activities, including online and offline activities, with online formats encouraged.

3. Participants must document their outreach efforts through text, photos, and videos. They should also collect basic contact information with voluntary, informed consent, answer questions, and provide guidance on the application process.

4. Outreach activities must not disrupt the regular teaching schedule of high schools.

5. Participants should ensure personal and property safety at all times during the activities.

6. Activities must not contain any commercial content or any material inappropriate for admissions outreach.

Upon returning to school, SJTU international ambassadors will continue to serve in this role, assisting SJTU in organizing activities related to international undergraduate student recruitment.

Application requirements

1. Applicants must be current international students at SJTU.

2. Applicants must be passionate about SJTU and supportive of the university's international development.

3. Applicants must demonstrate excellent performance, a strong sense of responsibility, and relevant skills in promotion, organization, public speaking, and communication.

4. Applicants must possess a strong sense of honor, law-abiding conduct, and be in good physical and mental health.

Application, selection, and training

1. Application

Application method: Online Application

Students may apply individually or as part of a team. Scan the QR code below and fill in the online application form by 11:59 pm on Jan 25.

2. Selection

The International Student Center (ISC) will review all application forms. Participants who meet the requirements will pass the initial review and be designated as "Goodwill Messengers", which is an interim designation for selected candidates prior to the final evaluation, qualifying them to represent SJTU in admissions outreach for one year. 

3. Training

The ISC will provide online or offline training, outreach materials in electronic or paper form, and consultation services throughout the program. 

Evaluation

The ISC will organize an evaluation meeting, inviting five to eight judges to assess all teams' outreach work. Team will present their achievements, and judges will score and rank the teams based on their performance. The review is expected to take place during the autumn semester in 2027, with the specific date to be announced separately.

Award

1. All participants who pass the first review will receive a certificate of "SJTU Goodwill Messenger".

2. Participants who pass the final evaluation will receive a certificate of "SJTU International Ambassador".

3. Based on the evaluation results, the following awards will be granted:

- First prize: 8,000 yuan ($1,150) per team[2.1]

- Second prize: 5,000 yuan per team

- Third prize: 3,000 yuan per team

- Participation reward: 1,000 yuan per team
