Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is now accepting applications from its students to participate in the 2026 U21 Global Citizens online program.

1. Program overview

The U21 Global Citizens program is a free online course offered by the Universitas 21 network, exclusively to students from its member universities. Over a three-week period, participants will join nearly 2,000 peers from 28 universities worldwide to engage in online learning and collaborative discussions, contributing ideas related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Program duration: March 9 - 27

Time commitment: Approximately nine hours of online learning in total, plus weekly online seminars lasting 1.5 hours each.

2. Program information

Note: Participants are required to complete the entire program. Applicants should carefully assess their schedule and availability before applying.

3. Application eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Be a current full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at SJTU.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate good English proficiency.

Note: Students who have previously completed the U21 Global Citizens program are not eligible to apply again.

4. How to Apply

Application period: Jan 26 - Feb 13

The application process consists of two steps:

Step 1: Complete the internal SJTU application

• Undergraduates: Log in to "my.sjtu.edu.cn", go to International Exchange -> Application for Overseas Exchange Programs (Undergraduate), fill out the form, and select "2026 U21 Global Citizens Online Program".
• Postgraduates: Log in to "my.sjtu.edu.cn", go to Postgraduate -> Application for Overseas Exchange Programs, fill out the form, and select "2026 U21 Global Citizens Online Program".
• Internal application deadline: Feb 13

Step 2: Complete the U21 external application

• The external application website will open on Jan 26. The application link will be released on that date.
• External application deadline: Feb 13
