Jinshan district will host its first-ever high-profile half marathon event on March 16, the Shanghai Bay Area Half Marathon. This inaugural race aims to showcase the natural beauty, cultural heritage and developmental vitality of Shanghai Bay Area through sports.
The event features a half marathon spanning a total of 21.0975 kilometers and a family fun run of 3.5 kilometers, attracting 4,733 participants from 18 countries and regions.
Among them, 3,459 participants will compete in the half marathon, while 1,274 have registered to join the family fun run.

The race starts and ends at the 43-year-old Shanghai Seaside Park, passing through iconic landmarks, such as Jinshan City Beach and Jinshanzui Fishing Village. Half marathon participants will run along the 13-kilometer coastal corridor of the northern Hangzhou Bay, enjoying sea breezes and the wetlands. The family run will end at Mengshan Road, combining competitiveness with entertainment.
At the event press conference held on March 7, the race uniforms and medals were unveiled for the first time, featuring elements of Jinshan's local characteristics and combining functionality with regional identity.

Ji Lei, deputy director of the Jinshan District Sports Bureau, said the event is not only a challenge for runners but also a panoramic display of Jinshan's urban development achievements.
"We want to meet the public's demand for diverse, local sports events and encourage more people to engage in physical exercise," Ji said. "We also aim to create a sports-tourism consumption chain. We hope to attract more tourists and participants to Jinshan. This event is also an effort to enhance Jinshan's reputation and influence by hosting more high-quality sports events."
