Zhujiajiao Ancient Town design competition now open for global entries

To enhance the global influence of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, a design competition is now accepting worldwide submissions. The event seeks compelling brand slogans and original franchise character designs that capture the town's unique charm and cultural essence.
Zhujiajiao is Shanghai's most well-preserved ancient water town. Last year, it was ranked among the top 10 most popular ancient towns for inbound tourists by the China Tourism Academy.
Brand slogan
The slogan should:
- Reflect Zhujiajiao's cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and tourism appeal.
- Inspire both domestic and international visitors.
- Be concise (no more than 12 Chinese characters), catchy, and easy to remember.
- Highlight Zhujiajiao's aesthetics as an ancient water town in Jiangnan (the region south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River), international flair, digital transformation, and youthful energy.
Submissions must include a brief explanation (within 500 Chinese characters) outlining the creative concept and meaning behind the slogan.
Franchise character
The franchise character should:
- Feature distinct personality traits and be cute and friendly, with a modern appeal.
- Represent Zhujiajiao's history, water town scenery, or folk traditions.
- Be designed as either a single character or a set of characters with a unique name.
Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals, teams, design agencies, advertising firms, and students and faculty from art institutions worldwide.
