Shanghai, Cork mark 20 years of friendship city cooperation
Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Fergal Dennehy, mayor of Cork, Ireland on Nov 21.
During the meeting, Gong said that Shanghai and Cork share close ties as the first pair of friendship cities established between China and Ireland. Since forging the relationship in 2005, the two cities have achieved fruitful cooperation across a range of sectors.
As the cities celebrate the 20th anniversary of their partnership, Gong called for deepening cooperation in areas such as green and low-carbon development, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing, and encouraged enterprises from both sides to invest and expand in each other's cities.
Dennehy expressed his willingness to further strengthen cooperation between the two cities over the next two decades, particularly in urban renewal, education, and research, as well as cultural and tourism exchanges, to deliver even greater outcomes.
