Shanghai, San Francisco deepen friendship city ties with new agreement
Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie on April 20, with the two sides signing a new memorandum of understanding on cooperation and exchanges between the two cities.
Gong noted that since establishing friendship city ties in 1980, Shanghai and San Francisco have achieved fruitful cooperation.
He expressed hope that the signing of the new MoU will serve as a fresh starting point to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, urban governance, and culture and the arts, while supporting outstanding businesses from both sides in investing and operating in each other's markets.
Lurie emphasized his desire to strengthen cooperation between the two cities in technological innovation, climate governance, sustainable development, urban governance, culture and the arts, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
He added that he looks forward to maintaining dynamic and practical cooperation between the two cities to enhance the well-being of residents in both nations.
