Mayor highlights friendship city ties in meeting with US senators
Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with a delegation of United States senators led by Senator Steve Daines on May 5.
Gong noted that since 1980, Shanghai has established friendship city ties with San Francisco, Chicago, and Houston, signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchanges with New York, and engaged in a wide range of exchanges and cooperation with other US regions.
He emphasized Shanghai's commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with the US, encouraging US companies to seize opportunities offered at the China International Import Expo and expand their presence in the city.
Gong also expressed hope for deeper exchanges in culture, education, and sports, as well as increased engagement and cooperation among young people.
