How to process the change in residence permit when the residence address of an expat has changed?

gaj.sh.gov.cn

For an expat residing in Shanghai who changes their address, the first step is to report the temporary residence registration of overseas personnel to the local police station within 24 hours. When dealing with expats, they can log in to the "Self-help Declaration System for Overseas Personnel's Accommodation Registration" (https://gaj.sh.gov.cn/crj/24hr) to complete the online self-declaration, or they can visit the police station in person.

The second step is to, within 10 days of the change of address, apply to the Shanghai Public Security Exit and Entry Administration department for the change in residence permit information. Expats can log in to the "Shanghai Municipal Exit and Entry Administration e-Government Platform" (https://gaj.sh.gov.cn/crj/gryw/wgrwssq/jldzbg) to handle this online. If the online review is successful, they can directly print the processing receipt as proof, without the need to visit the Exit and Entry Administration department. If the review is not successful, the expat must bring all relevant documents and go to the Exit and Entry Administration department for on-site processing.
