If you want to prolong your stay in Shanghai beyond the expiration of your visa, you should apply for an extension or renewal of your visa at least three days before the expiration date.

You can make an appointment for handling visa extension, renewal and replacement via the "Suishenban" app (随申办). 

Log in to the Suishenban app, switch to the "International" version at the homepage. Then choose the "Visa/stay permit/residence permit" section and select the type of visa before going to the next step.
