Film festival to showcase future of cinema through technological innovations

Partnering up with Shanghai's Putuo district, the Shanghai International Film Festival is set to present a SIFF XR section at this year's event in order to redefine the future of cinema with technology. This collaboration aims to explore the future of the film and television industry through a series of seminars while utilizing various imaging technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) to curate XR works for an immersive interactive experience.
Audiences will transcend the traditional screen experience, and get a first-person perspective into these fictional worlds. With sensory boundaries infinitely extended, the virtual world becomes tangible, offering a maximum sense of reality.
Carefully curated, the SIFF XR section will feature 26 domestic and foreign films that are categorized into four themes: "Eastern Charm", "The Secrets of Art", "Me and Myself", and "Supernatural". By leveraging cutting-edge technology, this showcase promises movie enthusiasts a cinematic experience of the highest quality.
Audiences can find a full list of the 26 films down below, and can start booking the tickets from 12 pm on June 7 by scanning the QR code.
