Celebrating global artistry: Drama season unveils diverse lineup

The second Autumn Is International Drama Season opened on Oct 12 at the Theatre YOUNG in Yangpu district.

Running until Dec 8, this year's drama season will showcase 29 plays from countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Brazil, and Spain. Many of these performances, including dance dramas, puppet shows, monologues, poetry recitals, and dance-poem dramas, are set to make their China premieres.

The opening act set the stage ablaze with Akram Khan Company's Jungle Book Reimagined, offering a fresh perspective on Rudyard Kipling's beloved tale through the lens of today's youth.

Audiences can also look forward to unconventional interpretations of timeless classics such as Theater Schaubühne's Hamlet and the masterpiece Everywoman by Milo Rau and Ursina Lardi.

A Taste of Millefeuille by French artist Eric de Sarria and Brás Cubas by Brazil's Armazém Theatre Company are poised to foster cultural exchanges between China, France, and Brazil.

Beyond the stage, the drama season will offer a plethora of engaging activities at venues like the Shanghai Library and Sinan Mansions, including tours, lectures, and workshops.
