Editor's note: Openness, innovation, and inclusivity define Shanghai's vibrant character. This year, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property continue to present the "Study IP in Shanghai" video series that promotes a culture of respect for knowledge, innovation, integrity, and fair competition. The series spotlights the experiences of international students in Shanghai.
Seeking to find a convergence point between Information Technology (IT) and Intellectual Property (IP), Muzafarzoda Firdavsi from Tajikistan, born in 2001, came to Shanghai in 2023 and currently studies at the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property.
He studied Information and Computer Science during his undergraduate years and has worked at the Tajikistan Patent Office.
Firdavsi is impressed by the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, which are fueling a global technological revolution. He believes that robust IP systems and regulations are essential to support these advancements. China, a major technological innovation powerhouse, is building an efficient, modern IP framework. Firdavsi feels that Shanghai in particular has a spirit of openness, innovation, and inclusivity, evident in its corporate R&D, green transformation, business environment, and cultural preservation.
Every day in Shanghai, Firdavsi gains valuable new knowledge and insights. His time in the city has deepened his understanding of global IP governance, and he looks forward to applying what he has learned to contribute to his country's development upon returning to Tajikistan.
