About Sycamore Research Institute of Life Sciences

The Sycamore Research Institute of Life Sciences is a new R&D institution dedicated to building a world-class biomedical research and functional innovation center. With a strategy that integrates fundamental research with the commercialization of scientific achievements, the institute concentrates on four key frontiers: RNA modification and biology, new mechanisms of cell fate regulation, immune engineering, and the targeting of biological macromolecules.

1. Launch program: For young scholars with exceptional promise

• Target: Equivalent to national-level young talent programs, such as Excellent Young Scholars (Overseas), or outstanding PhDs and postdocs from world-class universities.
• Positions: Fudan University Assistant Professor and Tenure-Track Associate Professor (Fixed-Term Research Fellow), and SRILS Guest Researcher.
• Compensation: Internationally competitive annual salary package, including Fudan University base salary, performance rewards, and personalized incremental support. SRILS provides an additional performance allowance.
• Housing support: Housing allowance and eligibility to apply for talent apartments near the campus.
• Research funding: Fudan University research start-up funds and SRILS special research start-up funds. Full national and local matching funds are available for those selected for national talent programs.
• Team building: Direct qualification as a PhD supervisor with dedicated PhD student quotas. Support for recruiting postdocs and full-time researchers to build teams. SRILS provides one additional PhD/Postdoc quota each year and funding for one research assistant.

• Compensation: Comprehensive compensation packages comparable to those offered by leading international institutions, with details negotiable. A joint appointment with support from both Fudan University and SRILS.

• Research support:

- Worry-free start-up: Tens of millions of yuan in joint research start-up funds from Fudan University and SRILS.

- Sustained support: SRILS provides 1 million ($143,600) to 3 million yuan annually in stable core funding for five consecutive years. Funding levels are adjusted based on evaluation, freeing recipients from the need for frequent grant applications.

• Space guarantee: SRILS provides more than 200 square meters of independent lab space.

• Target: Internationally renowned university tenured full professors, endowed chairs, and chief scientists at major R&D institutions.
• Position: Fudan University Distinguished Professor and SRILS Chief Scientist/Team Leader.
• Compensation: A fully customized, case-by-case compensation package at globally competitive levels.
• Housing support: Housing allowance and eligibility to apply for multiple talent apartments near the campus.
• Research funding: Ample research start-up funds and SRILS' highest-level annual non-competitive research funding.
• Team building: Direct qualification as a PhD supervisor with dedicated PhD student quotas. Guaranteed two to three PhD student quotas each year, unlimited postdoc recruitment, dedicated administrative support, and access to full-time researchers.
