Future intelligence

In districts including Pudong, Xuhui, Yangpu, Baoshan, Minhang, Jiading and Qingpu, industries will be developed through scenario demonstrations to create future smart industrial clusters.

Intelligent computing. Breakthroughs in intelligent computing for mega-models will be advanced, the independent frameworks and algorithm platforms for intelligent computing will be nurtured, and independent intelligent chips will make headway. Innovative application of knowledge enhancement, unified cross-modal modeling, prompt learning, continuous learning and other technologies in mega models, along with the cloud-edge-equipment computing power, will be pushed forward. The application of mega models in machine vision, intelligent speech semantics, natural language processing, human-computer interaction, etc. will speed up to facilitate the popularization of AI.

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The AGI models with generalized knowledge, dynamic learning and autonomous planning will be built to deepen the application of these models in urban governance, biosafety early warning, etc. The AI + drug development, AI + new materials and other applications will be deployed to promote deep integration between AI and basic sciences such as physics, chemistry and mathematics, and develop basic tools for scientific development. Moreover, breakthroughs in flexible perception, adaptive migration, group intelligence and other core technologies will be achieved to build machine intelligent bodies that integrate perception, decision-making, planning and control and to promote their application in healthcare, caregiving, elderly care, among others.

Extended reality (XR). Breakthroughs in core XR technologies will be made, and significant progress will also be made in near-eye display, perceptual interaction technology, rendering and computing technology, cloud content production and sharing technology, etc. The development of XR terminal products and application software will pick up pace to boost the integration and innovation of new-generation communication network (NGN) plus XR and to establish the industry chain of intelligent interactive devices that integrate software and hardware. The applications of XR technology will be expanded to make it readily available in such sectors as education and training, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, sports and entertainment.

Quantum science and technology. The industries arising from quantum science and technology, in particular quantum computing, communication and measurement, are encouraged. Breakthroughs will be achieved in quantum materials and device design, multi-degree-of-freedom quantum sensing, and optical, electric and acoustical quantum devices, and major advances will also be made in the development and application of silicon photonics, optical communication devices, photonic chips and other devices. The application of quantum technology in finance, big-data computing, healthcare, resources and environment, etc. will gain momentum.

6G technology. Core technologies in key fields, and the future network testing facilities and their large-scale commercialization will be promoted in a scientific and orderly manner. Breakthroughs will also be made in key technologies including air-space-sea integration and deterministic networks. A focus will be on 6G intelligent terminals, system equipment, integrated network of communication, sensing and computing, and integrated applications in order to make these sectors bigger and stronger. The national 6G standards and the technology promotion center will be established to strengthen the guiding role of 6G standards.
