Canada edged Amsterdam 19-17 in overtime in the final on May 17, wrapping up a thrilling weekend at Shanghai Global Harbor in Putuo district during the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Shanghai stop.

This year's Shanghai stop featured 16 teams, bringing together powerhouse national squads and elite professional teams from around the world at one of the key destinations on the Women's Series calendar.

Canadian standout Merissah Russell earned tournament MVP honors, delivering dominant statistics and clutch performances.

Russell, who had never played 3x3 basketball indoors before, praised the organization and atmosphere of the event: "This tournament is taking place in a shopping mall, which is really special. Everything has been smooth, and the fans were amazing too."

Amari Robinson from the Ulaanbaatar Amazons, a professional women's basketball club based in Mongolia, also lauded the enthusiastic Chinese fans, saying they were engaged and supportive throughout the weekend.

Shanghai native Zhang Zhiting, who represented Team Beijing, was no stranger to Shanghai Global Harbor. Although Beijing fell to Canada in the semifinals, she noted the unmistakable energy and support from the home crowd.

She added that the venue’s location in Putuo district helped draw large audiences, whose cheers gave the team a strong boost.

The FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026 is scheduled for Sept 5 to 6.
