The Tour of Shanghai · New Cities 2026 cycling race concluded in Nanhui, Pudong New Area on Sept 6, wrapping up three days of competition that brought together 122 riders from 21 top professional teams across 12 countries. The nearly 300-kilometer route passed through Shanghai's five new suburban "new cities" — Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian, and Nanhui.

As a UCI 2.2 event and the first men's road cycling race in Shanghai included in the UCI Asia Tour, this year's race delivered a higher level of competition.

Manuele Tarozzi of Italy's Bardiani CSF 7 Saber claimed the general classification title and the ruby jersey after consistent performances across all three stages. Jesper Rasch won stage 3 and topped the sprint standings with 34 points to claim the green jersey.

Chinese rider Qiao Liyao of the Pingtan International Tourism Island Cycling Team was a standout, sweeping the Best Asian Rider blue jersey.

In the team general classification, Bardiani CSF 7 Saber took top spot, followed by Malaysia's Terengganu Cycling Team and China's FNIX-SCOM-Hengxiang Cycling Team. The top three Asian teams were South Korea's LX Cycling Team, China's Giant Cycling Team, and Terengganu Cycling Team.

This year also marked the event's first upgrade to an elite amateur race, opening the full international-standard course to recreational riders. A total of 20 amateur elite teams competed on the final Fengxian-Nanhui stage.

Beyond the peloton, riders took part in cultural experiences across the city, visiting the Shanghai Auto Museum and Chenshan Botanical Garden, exploring intangible heritage sites in Qingpu's Jinze town, and touring the Fengxian Museum, the Mawangdui Han Tombs exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum, and Shanghai L+ Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort.
