City launches 500-million-yuan voucher program for H2

In the second half of 2025, Shanghai will roll out a renewed round of consumer vouchers worth 500 million yuan (approximately $69.66 million), covering dining, tourism, movies, culture, and sports. This phase includes several enhancements and updates compared to the earlier round.

 

Key updates

  • Cultural vouchers will be introduced, in addition to existing vouchers for dining, tourism, movies, and sports.
  • Tourism vouchers will now include a new category for rural homestays.
  • Sports vouchers will expand to include two new types: fitness vouchers and "event ticket purchase" vouchers, which offer discounts on tickets to sports events.
  • The distribution method for tourism vouchers will shift from a lottery system to a first-come, first-served model.

 

Voucher distribution details

  • Tourism and dining vouchers: Available through UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay.
  • Movie vouchers: Distributed via Taopiaopiao, Maoyan, and other platforms.
  • Fitness vouchers: Accessible through the official WeChat mini program of the Shanghai Administration of Sports.
  • Sports event ticket purchase vouchers and cultural vouchers: Distributed via designated platforms, selected through a public process. The details will be announced later.

 

Distribution method by voucher type

  • Dining vouchers: Issued via a lottery system to consumers located in Shanghai.
  • Tourism vouchers: Distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to both residents and visitors (replacing the lottery system).
  • Movie vouchers: Available on a first-come, first-served basis to consumers in Shanghai.
  • Fitness vouchers: Offered on a first-come, first-served basis, available to Shanghai residents.
  • Sports event ticket purchase vouchers: Available nationwide on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Cultural vouchers: Also distributed nationwide on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Key dates

  • The first batch of dining vouchers will be open for registration from July 26 to 28, and can be redeemed starting Aug 1.
  • Dining, movie, and fitness vouchers will be redeemable from Aug 1, while tourism, cultural, and sports event ticket purchase vouchers will become available by mid-August.

 

Important note

Overseas visitors in Shanghai who complete real-name authentication through UnionPay, Alipay, or WeChat Pay, during the voucher activity, are eligible to participate.
