CIIE Leisure | Imported goods festival returns
As the 8th China International Import Expo due to be held from Nov 5 to 10 approaches, Shanghai launched the 2025 Imported Goods Shopping Festival and the Country-specific Product Cultural Month on Oct 23 at the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center.
The twin events feature nearly 50 activities inspired by CIIE, giving residents the chance to shop the world without leaving the city.
Since its debut in 2020, the Imported Goods Shopping Festival has hosted almost 300 import-themed activities, generating 6 billion yuan (about $842.30 million) in sales. Meanwhile, the Country-specific Product Cultural Month has become a platform for international trade cooperation and cultural exchange, promoting mutual understanding and closer connections among countries.
This year marks the first time the two events are being held together, spanning five key lifestyle sectors: food, transport, tourism, shopping, and entertainment.
