Located in the Shanghai Sports Building (former Foreign YMCA Building) at No 150 West Nanjing Road, Shanghai Sports Museum is a comprehensive sports museum open to the public free of charge with the purpose of "inheriting sports culture and promoting sports spirit", and strives to build a public sports cultural space for citizens and a sports and culture landmark with Shanghai style.

There are four permanent exhibition halls with different themes of "A Retrospect of the History", "Olympic Glory of Shanghai", "A City Full of Vitality", and "A Window of the Future" in the museum. In the 2,000-square-metres exhibition area, almost 2000 pieces of sports collections and over 500 pictures are on display.

The museum provides interactive AR experience, movie watching, light show, information query and other services. Through visiting, you will have a more comprehensive understanding of the history and development of sports in Shanghai, and feel the charm and experience the culture of sports in person.

Tips for Spring Festival 2025:

The Shanghai Sports Museum will be closed during the Chinese New Year holiday. 

Specifically, it will be closed from Jan 28 (Tuesday, Chinese New Year's Eve) to Feb 4 (Tuesday, the seventh day of the first month in the Chinese calendar), and will reopen on Feb 5 (Wednesday, the eighth day of the first month in the Chinese calendar).
