The recent heatwave has made outdoor trips a challenge for those living in or visiting Shanghai. To help, the West Bund Central shopping center has opened a summer supply station with services for both cyclists and pet owners.

The cycling service area is fully stocked. Chilled bottled water fills the fridge, mint-infused cooling towels are neatly packaged, and professional tire pumps and bike wash stations are ready to use. First-aid kits, complete with iodine, bandages, and mosquito repellent, are checked daily.

Run in partnership with lifestyle brand RE, the station serves as a safety net for cyclists in the summer heat. By late afternoon, riders stop to rinse off their bikes, check tire pressure, or grab a bottle of cold water and a cooling towel. Regular visitors say it addresses two key needs: staying hydrated and handling unexpected bike issues on the go.

A free Summer Cycling Guide is also available to promote safe and healthy riding in hot weather.

The other side of the station caters to furry companions. Created with pet stores Gogogym and Joytails, it offers cooling vests, pet ice packs, and an emergency kit stocked with heatstroke medicine and first-aid tools for animals.

As the evening dog-walking crowd grows, the space becomes lively. Owners help pets cool down with ice vests, while shop staff offer drinking water and treats. Many visitors also seek advice on the best times to walk and summer pet care tips.
