Q: I would like to inquire about the entry and exit procedures for a psychiatric service dog traveling with us in the passenger cabin from the Philippines via Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Our dog will fulfill China's quarantine-free entry requirements, which include a microchip, rabies vaccination, rabies antibody titer test, and official health documentation.

May I also confirm whether any advance notice, appointment, health certificate, or other pre-arrival or pre-departure procedure is required for entry into China and subsequent departure after a short visit?

A: For pets entering China through Pudong airport, no prior appointment is required. You may bring your pet directly to the customs declaration counter upon arrival and complete the required procedures with the necessary documents.

For outbound pets, Pudong Airport Customs does not conduct additional quarantine inspections. If you need to obtain documentation for your pet's departure, please contact Huangpu Customs, which is under Shanghai Customs, at +86-21-6889-4323 for assistance.
