International guests embrace chrysanthemum culture in Putuo
A chrysanthemum appreciation cultural experience recently kicked off in Yichuan Park, Putuo district, Shanghai, attracting many international visitors.
Through activities such as flower viewing, guided tours, and handicrafts, participants experienced a harmonious blend of traditional Chinese culture and modern urban ecology.
Upon entering Yichuan Park, the international guests were greeted by a stunning display of 15,000 potted chrysanthemums. Guided by Zhao Zhangyong, the eighth-generation descendant of the Shanghai municipal-level intangible cultural heritage "Chrysanthemum Planting Techniques of Zhaojia Garden", they gained a deeper understanding of the chrysanthemum's symbolism of noble detachment and refined integrity in Eastern philosophy.
Following the tour, visitors crafted cloisonne enamel coasters adorned with chrysanthemum patterns. By using fine metal wires to outline the floral patterns, they forged a deeper connection with the flower.
Yichuan Road subdistrict has been actively organizing cultural experience programs that blend traditional festivals with intangible cultural heritage. Through bilingual guided tours and introductory videos, the subdistrict provides international guests with convenient services such as policy consultations and social engagement opportunities.
From cultural celebrations to community governance practices, Yichuan Road subdistrict is committed to helping international guests explore and better appreciate Chinese culture.
