Shanghai launches its first AI model for urban traffic
Shanghai unveiled its first large language model designed specifically for the transportation sector, the "Tongda model", on May 26.
The model was developed by Zhongchengjiao (Shanghai) Technology and was unveiled in Xuhui district. The company is the first State-owned enterprise specializing in large language models for a specific vertical industry.
The Tongda model has two main capabilities. First, it serves as an expert consultant, providing professional knowledge services. Second, it acts as the algorithmic cornerstone and central brain for various management platforms, facilitating decision-making.
With its built-in AI sensing, risk monitoring, emergency response, and resource coordination abilities, the model helps improve management efficiency. In essence, it's like equipping the city's transportation system with an AI expert.
"For example, when an accident happens on an elevated road, even if there's already an intelligent system in place, human managers still need to identify the type of accident, confirm the situation, and dispatch personnel and equipment manually," explained Chang Guangzhao, chairman of Zhongchengjiao Technology.
"With the Tongda model, most of these steps can now be handled by AI, greatly speeding up the response process," Chang said.
