Xianqiao Ecological Village Scenic Area
Situated in the north-central part of Chongming Island, Xianqiao village has pioneered a sustainable development model that integrates ecology, agriculture, and tourism. It has earned multiple national titles, including "national livable village", "national eco-cultural village", and "national key village for rural tourism". In 2018, it was designated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
Attractions
Huijie fruit and vegetable picking garden
This offers a wide selection of kiwifruit varieties, along with seasonal fruits such as yellow peaches, honey peaches, blueberries, and red dragon fruit. With more than 30 fruit types available throughout the year, it draws visitors from across the Yangtze River Delta region who come for picking tours and agritourism experiences.
Chunrun aquaculture cooperative
This cooperative adopts an innovative eco-farming approach by cultivating rice in central fields while raising aquatic species in surrounding water areas. It is particularly known for its crayfish — organisms highly sensitive to pesticides, making them natural indicators of a chemical-free environment. This method preserves ecological integrity, and many of the cooperative's products have been certified as green agricultural products.
JoyIn cafe&bar
Tucked away among lush trees and vibrant flowers in Xianqiao village, this cafe boasts a simple yet stylish industrial design that creates a cozy and relaxing vibe. Guests can sip premium coffee or chilled beverages beside expansive floor-to-ceiling windows while soaking in the refreshing rural scenery. In the evening, the space shifts into a laid-back bar suited for social gatherings.
Junying town
Junying Xianqiao Center is Chongming's first rural commercial complex developed and operated by a local private enterprise. The center includes a restaurant that can accommodate about 250 guests, a cat cafe, a bakery, a tea bar, and a 24-hour convenience store.
Xianqiao homestays
The village features more than 20 homestays and 16 farmstay dining venues. Among them, Yiyi Homestay is recognized as a Shanghai five-star boutique homestay, complete with a billiards room, lounge areas, a multi-functional hall, and a terrace, offering diverse recreational options.
Mu Mian Hua Kai creative workshop
Housed in a converted warehouse, this creative space allows visitors to engage in hands-on activities such as textile art exhibitions, plant-based dyeing, and pottery making. It offers an immersive experience into the traditional culture and crafts of Chongming.
